General Position Summary:

 

Works closely with the President in providing leadership for the chapter. Manages the development and provision of programs, workshops, seminars and other services provided by the chapter. Ensures chapter programs and other chapter-sponsored educational opportunities are consistent with chapter goals. In the absence of the President, performs all the Presidential responsibilities.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Participates cooperatively with the President in providing direction for the chapter.

  2. Presides in the absence of the President at local chapter and board meetings.

  3. Prepares program development (in conjunction with the Program/Seminar Director if applicable) to ensure consistency with chapter goals.

  4. Selects and coordinates monthly programs that reflect human resource issues of importance to chapter members and chapter goals.

  5. Selects speakers for specific topics and makes all arrangements for speakers. Introduces speaker at chapter meetings.

  6. Provides Public Relations Director information concerning the program and speaker within appropriate deadlines for newsletter and community publication.

  7. Measures success of meeting members’ needs by soliciting written feedback from members at each meeting. Reports results at board meetings.

  8. Conducts annual survey of members’ interests for planning purposes.

  9. Provides assistance to Legislative Affairs Director or State Council in coordinating bi-conference if applicable.

  10. Provides leadership to special projects as assigned by the President.

  11. If applicable, direct and support the activities of chairs and members of the Program Committee, Professional Development Committee and the Mentoring Committee. Coordinate their activities to support the chapter’s mission and recruit members to serve on these committees.

  12. Provides information regarding programs and services to members and potential members through presentation, written communication and personal contact.

  13. Attends all State Council meetings and acts as liaison to Chapter President and members as appropriate.

  14. Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning.

  15. Represents the chapter in the human resources community.

 

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Must be a member in good standing elected by the chapter membership.

  2. Preferable to have held a prior office.

  3. Must hold professional or general membership standing.

  4. PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
