General
Position Summary:
Directs all marketing and public relations activities
for the chapter including publicizing all chapter activities to the membership
and public via chapter newsletter, local newspaper, or other available media
resources. Maintains and distributes Membership Directory/Resource List.
Essential
Job Functions:
Assists
chapter officers in developing ways to publicize SHRM and chapter goals,
programs, and activities to all members.
Coordinates
with chapter Vice President in publicizing meetings, seminars and chapter
activities, to existing and potential members to media resources that might
publicize the event, i.e. newspaper, television.
Responsible
for preparing and submitting “Chapter Chatter” article to SHRM for monthly HR
News publication as approved by the chapter Board of Directors.
Develop/maintain
Membership Directory/Resource List published in April and October.
Coordinates
with College Relations Director to promote and publicize student chapter
activities.
Assists
Membership Director as requested to promote the chapter and SHRM national and
potential members.
Assists
Legislative Affairs Director as requested to promote legislative information to
chapter members.
Assists
Professional Development Director with promoting SHRM Human Resource
Certification program to chapter members.
May
assist with monthly chapter newsletter preparation and distribution.
Assists
with promoting advertisement for monthly chapter newsletter.
Publicize
the activities of members to the news media and chapter members regarding
specific activities and/or accomplishments which may include awards received,
special projects completed, speaking engagements, etc. This may involve issuing
news releases and explaining the significance of programs and activities to the
media (Statesman Journal, Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, etc.).
Participates
in the development of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the
chapter.
Represents
the chapter m the human resources community.
Completes other assignments as requested by the President or the Board of Directors.
Essential Qualifications:
Must be a member in good standing.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of local area news media
resources/contacts preferred.
PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
