Topic: "Conducting an effective investigation"

 

Conducting an effective investigation today is crucial.  Good investigations help employers understand the facts and assist in making business decisions based on the best possible information.  An employer's conduct in an investigation will come under the microscope if litigations ensues.  This presentation will explore how to conduct internal investigations the "right way" at all phases of an investigation, including what to investigate, planning the investigation, documenting and concluding the investigation.

 

Presented By: Todd A. Hanchett is a partner at Barran Liebman LLP and represents management in employment and labor law matters. He received his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law in 1999, and earned his B.S., cum laude, in Business Administration and Accounting from Walla Walla College. Todd is a frequent speaker on a variety of employment law topics including harassment, drug and alcohol issues, religious discrimination, and E-discovery. He is a past member of the Oregon State Bar Diversity Section Executive Committee and Chair of that Section's Best Practices Committee. He also served on the Oregon State Bar’s House of Delegates. He is a current Director of the Federal Bar Association. Todd is co-author of “Public Policy Challenges to Labor Arbitration Awards: Still A Safe Harbor For Silly Fact Finding?” published in the Willamette Law Review. Todd is admitted to practice in Oregon and Washington.
